A garden plot from the Seedling Development Project

This is one of the garden plots for the Seedling Development Project which began in Meru, Kenya in January 2009.

The program includes single mothers, widows, and women living with AIDS. The program provides seedlings, fertilizer, insecticide, hose and sprinklers, and tools so that the women can farm their small plots of land.

This provides more nutritious food for their families and the opportunity for them to earn a small income selling some of the vegetables in the local market. The pilot for this Seedling program was started in rural Tanzania in 2008.
