Education and Scholarships

Hope for a better future.

As the Director of Good Samaritan Children’s Home stated, “Just because we live in the slums our minds do not have to be in the slums. Education is the only way out.”

Orphans Education Fund

Your contributions to the Orphans Education Fund provide life-changing support for children from the Good Samaritan Children’s Home in the Mathare slums of Nairobi. These orphans can attend primary and secondary school and have an opportunity for a better life. We help in providing funds for school uniforms, supplies and school fees for primary and secondary students.

The cost for a year of boarding school for one student averages between $250 and $340. The students also need uniforms, supplies, and bedding. Next year we will be funding 30 students. With your support we can increase this number. Many students are still waiting to go to school.

Africa Circle of Hope Scholarships

Contributions for the ACOHF Scholarships allow one of the top female students and one the top male high school students from Good Samaritan to earn a university degree. One of these students described a new understanding. “I used to blame others for my problems and now I take responsibility and look for solutions and how I can help solve problems.” Education opens up a whole new world for these young people and transforms their life and their future. We also contribute to vocational development. ACOHF has awarded a scholarship to a long-time staff volunteer at Good Samaritan to attend the Kenya Institute of Social Work and Community Development.

One majors in Computer Science and the other is studying Social Work. The Africa Circle of Hope Scholarship provides tuition, fees, books, and lodging for these students. CUEA is also contributing a portion of their tuition. Our thanks to the Rector/Vice Chancellor of CUEA for his support and leadership with this project.

We congratulate all these students and wish them well in their studies. They are thankful for this opportunity and eager to learn and develop their knowledge and skills.

Please donate to the Africa Circle of Hope Orphans Education Fund and Scholarship Program to help young people move out of poverty, reach their dreams and contribute to a better world for everyone.
